How to Play Video Poker

Video Poker Rules2022

The VideoPoker is nothing but an electronic poker game played on a slot machine or computer screen. Indeed, there are many similarities between Video Poker and slot machines from a strictly aesthetic and practical point of view. As in classic poker, Video Poker consists of opposing hands between the player and the game computer – which somehow replaces the croupier of land casinos. There are a large number of variations to Video Poker. The best known are the Deuces Wild, the Jacks or Better, or the Joker Wild.
How to Play Video Poker

Each casino player has their own profile and way of playing. It is obvious that he will have to go through all the variants of Video Poker before finding the right shoe. However, it should be noted that followers of classic poker have an easier time learning and then practicing Video Poker. Knowledge of the different winning combinations and wagering systems is a great asset for those who want to learn how to play Video Poker.

If you want to play free Video Poker or simply browse its available variants, we invite you to visit one of the online casinos below.

Video Poker rules: Gameplay

  • The player starts by betting, that is to say by introducing money into the machine to start the game.
  • The machine then distributes five cards to the player.
  • The player consults the cards and can either keep them or throw a part of them.
  • The cards that the player got rid of are immediately replaced with new ones.
  • The player’s hand and the computer’s hand are opposite.
  • The player wins the game if his hand is greater than that of the computer. If not, he loses.

Value of hand Rankings

In Video Poker, each hand has a specific value. The combinations of cards in Video Poker rules are the same as those in traditional poker.

SetThree cards of identical value
FifthFive cards that follow each other digitally
Color or FlushFive cards of the same suit without necessarily having a numerical sequence
FullThree cards of the same value and two other cards of the same value
SquareFour cards of identical value
Straight flushFive cards of the same suit that follow each other digitally
Royal FlushA specific succession of cards of the same suit, in this case a 10, a Jack, a Queen, a King and an Ace

Double your winnings

In Video Poker rules, each time the player wins, he can make a “Banco”. This option consists of doubling the player’s winnings. To do this, after pressing the “Double” button, the player must turn over one of the five cards displayed on the screen, knowing that one of them is already presented face up. If the card turned over by the player has a value higher than the card face up, he wins twice the amount of his initial bet. If not, he loses all of his stakes.
